IN PARTNERSHIP WITH MOTHERS MILK BANK AUSTIN

Milk Connections Lactation Consulting is partnering with the Mother's Milk Bank in Austin to provide lifesaving human milk donations to infants in need.

Thank you for considering donating your excess milk to save preterm infants in our area hospitals. The Mother's Milk Bank at Austin is responsible for screening all donor applicants before donations can be made. All donations are sent to the milk bank for pasteurization before the milk is safe for NICU babies.

Our human milk drop off depot is located at 4909 Bissonnet Street, Suite 115. Drop off hours are 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday, BY APPOINTMENT. Please call or text our office number - 281-699-8054 - to arrange the drop off time. If you have not already contacted the Milk Bank and received a donor ID number, please start the process here: https://milkbank.org/donate-milk/. Once you have this number, call us to arrange a drop day and time. We look forward to meeting you and receiving your life-giving milk donations.

Availability of Pasteurized Donor Human Milk for a Healthy Infant

Congratulations on the birth of your baby! Now that you are ready to go home, you may wish to have donor human milk on hand for your healthy infant until your milk supply comes in. You may also want to have a small supply of milk in the freezer available for an unforeseen need. Many families of healthy newborns wish to supplement with human milk instead of formula, providing babies with health benefits, and parents with peace of mind. The Mothers’ Milk Bank at Austin is working with Milk Connections to make this milk available for families in the Houston area. Each family may be eligible for up to 39 ounces of milk for a healthy infant.

Families with premature or sick babies may also need donor human milk. Babies at home with a medical need for human milk can get donor human milk if their physician provides a prescription and letter of medical necessity. Many families of healthy newborns wish to supplement with human milk instead of formula, providing babies with health benefits and parents with peace of mind. Milk Connections can provide up to 39 ounces of milk without a prescription. Families of healthy infants will need to pay out of pocket for this service since health insurance does not cover milk for healthy infants. Processing fees for the milk are $13.95 per 3-ounce bottle. This fee covers costs of screening milk donors, pasteurizing pooled milk, and testing the milk to verify its safety for your baby. Learn more about how milk is made safe here. Please note the following:

OUR SUPPLY MAY BE INCONSISTENT. Because medically fragile infants and hospitals must have access to this lifesaving milk first, we cannot ensure a regular supply for our outpatient clients but are working with MMBA to make sure that we have it as frequently as possible. This milk is intended for short- term use to fill a gap in your own supply of milk for your baby.

SAME-DAY PICKUP IS REQUIRED. Milk cannot be purchased and held for pickup at a later date. Any milk order not picked up by end of day will be canceled and payment refunded. MILK CANNOT BE SHIPPED or COURIERED from this location.

MAX 39 oz. PER FAMILY. When Donor Milk is available, it is available for purchase in 3 oz. increments.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES CAN MILK BE RETURNED OR REFUNDED FOR ANY REASON AFTER IT HAS LEFT OUR PREMISES.
